Approximately 170 companies went public in the year 2023, which reflects the intention of corporations to tap into the resources available to a listed entity through stock markets.
However, along with such an increase in the number of listed entities, the Indian market also is time and again faced with regulatory challenges around the externalities of public markets – one example of the same is insider trading. SEBI’s approach on insider trading has been to balance the regulatory risks with allowing genuine trades. In an attempt to further this approach, SEBI has proposed changes to the regulatory regime around Trading Plans to allow ease of undertaking genuine trades.
